Taking Care Of Sacramento Contact Lenses

Taking Care Of Sacramento Contact Lenses

by Nancy Gardner

Contact lens should only be won following a prescription from your doctor. This also applies even if the purpose of wearing them is other than for visual correction. During eye examination, the optician will access your eyes health, myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. Your visual acuity has to get assessed too before Sacramento contact lenses are prescribed.

In the process of their insertion, the first step should always be washing of hands. They should be adequately dried after that. Then, with your dominant hand, hold the tip of the lens with your index finger and bring down the lower eyelid.

The index finger of the other hand is used to elevate the eyelid at the top. While gazing upwards, the lens is placed on the white eye region and the lids released by removal of index fingers. Closing the eyes for a brief period allows lens to be positioned well inside the eye.

The process of taking them off starts with washing the hands too. They should be thoroughly dried thereafter. You should then look up and pull down the lower lid using the middle finger of the dominant hand. The index finger is then used to access the lenses on the lower part. It is then slid down the sclera and squeezed between the thumb and pointer finger. Be careful during the removal process.

The disposable kind of contact lens is meant to be worn only one time. They eliminate the hassle of repeated cleaning and storing. However, caring for lens is not so difficult. Just make sure you adhere to the instructions of your optician. There are commercially made solutions meant to remove proteins, clean, rinse and disinfect the lenses before they are stored.

For comfortable and healthy contact lens wear, they have to get cared for on a daily basis. The procedure involves placing commercial cleaner drops on each on the lenses sides and rubbing gently for about twenty seconds. This is followed by thorough rinsing for about five minutes with a rinsing solution prepared commercially

In storage, they are soaked for at least four hours in the cleanser solution. The solution is never to be reused. It should be discarded immediately after use. After doing all this, you can go ahead and put on lens again. If you notice any remaining debris, just rinse them before inserting them into the eyes.

If they are not in use, they must be kept in specially made cases for safety purposes. They should never be soaked in a saline solution. This does not result to disinfection. The cases may remain closed for a period of thirty days if they are not in use. However, beyond this, they have to be cleaned and disinfected before insertion. The solutions used should be professionally prepared. Otherwise, using something else will not be effective in accomplishing the purpose. Also, the results will be compromised in case the solution is been reused. The case the lens are stored in should be changed on a monthly basis.
