Beware Alkaline Water Benefits Scam Artists

Beware Alkaline Water Benefits Scam Artists

by Nina Clare

The makers of Alkaline Water Ionizers make stunning claims for their product. According to them, it can cure anything from cancer to tiredness. But can it really do this? Let's see.

Every one of your body fluids have different pH readings. Some are alkaline others acidic. One example is gastric acid. It needs to have a low pH (Acidic) or your food would not be digested. your blood is required to be slightly alkaline or you'll die.

Our bodies have excellent mechanisms for maintaining these balances. So, biologically speaking, alkaline water cannot change these measurements.

But can alkaline water really cure cancer or build up your energy? According to the manufacturers of Alkaline Water Ionizers, as they're called, it can achieve this and a lot more! But will alkaline ionized water actually do what's claimed?

If we're on the subject of biology, I will discuss what would happen if you drank a glass of alkaline ionized water. Your very acidic gastric juices would strip the water of alkalinity. As the water entered your intestines, stomach acid will strip it of alkalinity. Just what happens? It will become alkaline!

So any water you drink becomes alkaline anyway!

Anti-Oxidant?

Anti-Oxidant Properties?

Free radical damage in the human body is presumed to be the real reason behind serious diseases like arthritis and cancer. By ridding oneself of these free radicals (which are presumed to be running unchecked throughout our bodies) will reverse the illness.

You could almost believe it, except for the fact that the body already has a system in place to continually rid you of free radicals. Not only that, but it's millions of times more effective too!

Something of a problem crops up here. Is this fancy water really an anti-oxidant anyway?

A bit of a problem crops up here. Is alkaline ionized water really an anti-oxidant anyway? Well, picture this: Did you know that alkaline water can bleach the color from iodine? Yes it really can! it does this because (wait for it... ) it's an oxidant! Think about bleach. The oxidizing strength of bleach is capable of doing exactly the same thing!

A cancer curing anti-oxidant? I don't think so.

I'm not convinced of claims made by the sellers of the alkaline water machine are backed by credible science. In my article I look at the supposed alkaline health benefits and see whether they stand up to scrutiny. I also write about all things body pH as you can see from my article on the popularpH balance diet.
