Acne is one among many skin conditions that is mainly characterized by pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. It occurs mainly on the face because of a mixture of oil and dead skin cells that block your sweat pores. This skin condition normally occurs in teenagers but may later transgress to the earlier parts of adulthood. Here is how to fight this skin condition.

Make sure that you keep your face clean every day by washing it twice to remove impurities, dead skin cells and oil. Apply precautionary measures when treating your skin by using a light cloth to wash your face and a gentle soap. The water should be lukewarm rather than hot, then rinse and dry with a clean towel.

It is also important to keep your skin moisturized to counter the drying effects of acne. When selecting a moisturizer, it is advisable to go for one that not only minimizes dryness, but also prevents peeling of the skin. There are different kinds of moisturizers in the shops, which are mainly for dry or oily skin, or a combination of the two.

Some cosmetics used for makeup can cause pimples and irritation on the face when not used correctly. Avoid wearing foundation, powder or blush to prevent the onset of this skin condition, otherwise wash your face of the make up every evening before you go to bed. Look for cosmetics written noncomedogenic on the label. These cannot cause acne.

The fragrances, oils and gels that you apply on your hair can cause blockage of sweat pores when they get to the face. It is important to avoid using these too. A good substitute would be a gentle shampoo and conditioner. Avoid getting the oil on your hair from reaching your face by keeping it as far away from the face as possible.

Try not to touch your face every once and then. Touching your face often risks the probability of spreading bacteria as well as irritation on the skin of a person with acne. If you notice pimples on your face, do not pick or pop them. Instead, use proper treatment to prevent scarring and infection.

One of the triggers for this skin condition is exposure to too much sunlight, which causes irritation on the face of a person with acne. It is important to stay away from direct sunlight during periods of high intensity, or wearing protective clothing to protect yourself from the sun. Additionally, you can also use sunscreen with a SPF of 30 when you are outdoors to avoid being sunburned.

Exercise everyday to help your body perform well. Exercise has many benefits to the body and brain such as improving the basal metabolic rate and general function of the body organs. Be cautious when exercising by wearing light clothes and avoiding exercise machines that rub against your skin and shower immediately after a training session.

Stress is also a major risk factor for acne. It is important to deal with stress when fighting acne by avoiding any stress related factors in your life. If you find it hard to fight stress on your own, it would not hurt to seek the assistance of a professional.
